1st day of malacca trip

we woke up very early and mum came to fetch us to amk. we were all very excited and doing different things on the van.

Then we stop by this place for breakfast.

After breakfast, it's a long drive to malacca. After checking into the hotel, mabel took some pics of the hotel room. then we proceeded to a nyonya restaurant for lunch and then it's back to the hotel where it's free time for all. the children swam.

In the evening, we went to this place for dinner. It's a nice dinner and the funny thing was, they forgot to serve us the soup and they were so honest. after we had the dessert, then the soup came. We were all surprised, they said that they forgot to serve it just now. I mean they could just keep quiet about it but they were honest.

After dinner, we went to jonker's street for some shopping. but the weather is hot,the place is crowded, so it was really tiring and sweaty to walk among the crowd. The children were so tired. max fell asleep on the way back to the hotel. (oh yah, we walked there) didn't buy much things there because it's so crowded. there is hardly place to stand and browse at the stall

2nd day of malacca trip

woke up and we went down for breakfast. wow, a large crowd, couldn't handle. there were not enough bowls, plates, cutleries and stuff. luckily mum came down early and got us all a table.

After breakfast, we came down to the lobby to wait for our transport. Today is shopping day and sight seeing day.

We went to 'eye of malaysia' first. it's like a ferris wheel, just that it's air con.

Then after that we went shopping and have lunch at jonker's dessert. the queue is really long at this place. It is supposed to be a musuem cafe. so it's really crowded. luckily we have many of us, some look for tables, some queue up for the laksa and chendol. the tables were quite small, so we had to separate our seating arrangement.

and of course, shopping. needless to say, mum and aunties bought a lot of stuff.

When we came back from shopping, of course, the children went for a swim before dinner. after swimming, they even had fun in the bathtub.

The restaurant that we wanted to have dinner at was so fully booked and fully packed. we had to settle for a less than desirable place for dinner. the food is ok, not that bad. we even packet the chicken back to the hotel room as we are going to have a 'party' later in the room in aunt sal's room.

3rd day Malacca trip

Last day of the tour:
after breakfast, we basically packed our luggage and auntie sally and mum managed to 'sneak out' to buy some more things. We basically just laze around until 11 plus before we check out.

On our way back, we stop by Yong Peng to buy some stuff and finally JB for a late lunch before heading home. We all liked the restaurant in JB and have plans to come back in the future to eat. At Yong Peng, we finally pose for our only group photo.

and the stuff that we bought just at Yong Peng

Some photos i took on the way back home

Anger management

what do i do when i get angry? i realise that if i keep thinking about the issue, i get angrier. so 1st, i try to stop thinking and keep my mind on other things.

i find the best way for me to cool down is to drive around. provided the weather is cool. like this morning. i wind down the window, blast jay chou's music. It should do the trick. but it has to be a longer journey... otherwise not enough kick.

Monday, May 04, 2009

what a busy day at school today with the exams going on and the temperature taking.

must be on my toes to ensure that i do the right thing and not miss out anything. must be alert.

Sunday, May 03, 2009

back from Malacca. When i have the time, i'll upload the pictures.

anyway, lots of things on my mind now with the orange alert. and with max just at my side asking me so many questions, not in the mood to blog

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

on sunday night, don't know why dear dear suddenly want to eat buffet. actually wanted to have high tea, but realise we are too late for the timing. so instead we all went for an early buffet dinner.

we went to vienna at united square. marcus ate 2 bowls of spaghetti. mabel and max drank the test tube juice the most. max loved the jap cold noodle. the children also ate cakes and ice cream.

It was an expensive dinner but once in a blue moon. but looking at how the children enjoyed the food and having fun choosing the food, i think it's worth it.

sorry, no photos. i don't know. i'm not that kind that take photos. realise i should have taken a photo of us in the library, should have taken a photo of us at vienna, should have taken a photo of my grossly looking tooth, correction, teeth. thinking about it also grosses me out. should have taken pictures of my bloodied gauze.
oh yah, on sunday, after library, brought the kids to Tampines 1. hmmm, the air con is really inviting for such a warm day especially after you just came from the mrt station. seriously, i think mrt stations' structure is flawed. there was absolutely no ventilation, absolutely no fans in the mrt station! no wonder most mrt staff would hide in their 'cave'.

walked around tampines 1. went to that japan shop, what is that name? seriously again, i do not understand what the hype was all about. the things are not exactly cheap. i mean i would not pay $29.90 for a top.

later we went bakerzin for a light lunch. the children ordered cakes and we ordered dessert. omg, the dessert is so delicious.
max looked surprised to see me when he woke up this morning.
day 1 after extraction: cannot open my jaws big. had difficulty brushing my teeth this morning, almost couldn't put my toothbrush in. also had to be careful not to brush too hard especially around the wound. then rinse my mouth with this greenish stuff that the dentist gave.

sip my coffee, pain. darn, i forgot, doc say no hot water. so had to wait for coffee to cool down before drinking.

my colleague said that i have to eat porridge for one whole week! omg.

at least mabel is worried for me and asked me about it. marcus didn't even know i went to the dentist!

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

today, the pain from my toothache was unbearable. in the afternoon, went to the dentist. extracted 2 wisdom tooth. i knew i had to extract my wisdom tooth, it's just that i've been putting it off. if not for the pain today, i would still put off extracting it.

as for the other side of wisdom tooth, due to it growing horizontally, i would have to make appointment for surgery to take it out.

my gums are still feeling numb right now and i could still taste the blood. doc gave me antibiotics and pain killer. i'm sure when the numbness wears off, the pain will come. why must wisdom tooth give us so much pain?

Sunday, April 26, 2009

this morning brought the kids to the library. They borrowed books with their ez link card. before going into the library, we told max to keep quiet, cannot talk so loud in the library. he was a good boy, he really whispered.

think we will make more trips to the library in the future

不爱那么多,只爱一点点,别人的爱情像海深,我的爱情浅。
不爱那么多,只爱一点点,别人的爱情像天长,我的爱情短。
不爱哪么多,只爱一点点,别人眉来眼去我只偷看你一眼。

suddenly heard this song. such an old song and nice. bring back memories of being a student and in npcc and we used to sing 童谣 and songs together.

i can still remember the first 4D. 0169. consolation prize. won onlhy $75 but was so happy. went to have candlelight dinner for celebration.

very little money won, but memory very sweet
this morning went to the x ray, then the lady told me the doctor didn't tick what x ray is to be done. so i have to go back to the doc again to ask him. what the hell? waste my time to wake up so early and horrible breakfast i had.

anyway, jump to other topic. i just can't stand myself. after so many years of having menses, sometimes, i still can't able to place my pad properly in the centre, in the right place. sometimes, it's either too front or too back. wt... stupid me. no wonder most women dread that time of the month. so troublesome lor. when sleeping, also must try not to sleep too much at the side becos it will flow sideway and if too much, will flow onto the bed.

let me see. before 1997, when i know my husband,

1) honda civic 1.5GL (black, 5404) i think he had a e200 merc before this.
then from 1997,

3) honda civic SiR (red, 8332)1998

picnic because it's one of the 2 auto cars, most comfortable to drive.
pajero, i had a damn good sound system.

worse accident car? accent.
car with most cars banging into and still no 'injury'? SiR

most chio car? first honda civic. I remember the black was so shiny, when u drive past orchard road, it could reflect the lights.
and SiR. self polish until shiny. every day, go multi storey car park to wash the car.

Thursday, April 23, 2009

realise cough is bad after i exert pressure on my throat. Like after finishing a whole day of lessons, my throat is very bade. cannot stop coughing.

now want to finish up some work first before going home
hmmm, the doc referred me to go and get an x ray done.

yesterday, managed to cook spaghetti for lunch for the children. They complained that they are tired of porridge, so cooked spaghetti for them. marcus and mabel finished the whole bowl and marcus even asked for extra. only max didn't really eat. he only ate the hot dogs.

for dinner, bought pizza for marcus and mabel. italian food for them yesterday.

marcus and mabel can be quite gullible. i told them that i'm happy to see them finish up their lunch as i put in a lot of effort to cook the lunch. i told them that i got to wake up early and go to the market and told them i want to buy milk. then i had to milk the cow to get the milk, then stand in the hot sun and wait for the milk to turn into cheese before i can use the cheese to cook the cheesy sauce for the spaghetti.

mabel was half believing what i say. but marcus was like, 'yah, when u milk the cow, it's really tough, you have to pull like this.'

hmm, anyway, the medication is giving me headaches. i think i'm drowsy. and both my hands are subtly shaking involuntarily. i don't like the feeling.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

coughing badly last night. couldn't sleep. hmm, is there any strong cough mixture for my irritating cough?

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

today, not feeling quite well. been coughing again. tired and mentally pushing myself to go on. now i can feel i'm so exhausted.

marcus and mabel have been good lately, doing homework in the afternoon. last night, marcus did a maths exam paper practice. for a paper whose duration is 1hour 45 mins, he actually took 3 hours 30 mins to do it! omg, like that how to pass?

Sunday, April 19, 2009

friday was a very tiring day. i think i slept quite early after i reached home at about 9 plus.

on sat morning, we went for breakfast. for lunch, we went marina square and then we went to brewerkz to spend the afternoon away.

in the evening, we went to the nearby coffeeshop to have dinner. the weather was so hot, all of us felt so hot after the dinner. we came back, we stayed in the room and switched on the air con. i slept at 3 plus as i was glued to the tv programme.

on sunday, as mil was not feeling well, she didn't go to church. so we had breakfast, then sister said that she is cooking arabic dinner. so we again went to brewerkz to have some light lunch and spend the afternoon there. we watched the F1 race live from shanghai at 3pm. it was good fun when everyone watches the race together.

then we went to amk early. mabel helped her yi yi with the dinner. It was a nice meal. filling and it was an eye opener for me, arabic food.

it was a good talk after dinner with sis and auntie gor yee.

so now all ready for another week of work.

mandane, but fulfilling. spending quality time together with family, it just makes all the hard work worth it

Thursday, April 16, 2009

today, i'm so tired. physically and probably mentally

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

though i'm very piss about an incident that happen, i'm not going to blog about it, because as a capacity of a teacher, i don't think it's fair and right to make comment in my blog.

today's weather is erratic, first it was very humid, then it started to pour heavily. the strong gust of wind before the rain is most welcomed.

let me see, the difference between an animal and a human. a human has self discipline, a human knows when to exercise his self discipline. we do not go around hitting people because we are depress or distress or agitated.

sigh, i'm just so disappointed. sometimes i wonder, when a child does something wrong, is it the parents who did not teach properly or is it the school that did not teach properly?

清明时节雨纷纷,
路上行人欲断魂。
借问酒家何处有?
牧童遥指杏花村。

i always remember this tang shi as it always reminds me that it is usually raining during qing ming festival.

so have u been on qing ming? what is the real meaning of qing ming for you?

i always believe that when the person is alive, we should already be filial, shouldn't wait until the person die, then start showing more filial. what's the point? is the dead person aware?

but qing ming is also a time for family gathering. u see young and old coming together. sometimes u wonder if the children know the meaning of qing ming?
today i was very kpo. i went to facebook and i read the profiles of my friends' spouses or girlfriends.

What good does it do me? nothing, i was just being kpo.
today at work, i try to be very focus. just focus to get past the day and focus to complete what i wanted to do. feels good, focus.

Sunday, April 12, 2009

am tired today. probably been watching the red cliff dvd and red cliff 2 dvd, so am tired today. think i'm going to bed early tonight, cos tml is monday. busy day ahead.

yup, right after i've finished blogging, checking email, reading the news, facebook and twitter, yup, i reckon by the time i finish all these things, i'm going to bed the same time as i usually do, not earlier as i've planned.

How many times do you log in to the internet everyday? i think i spend more time doing all these things. sometimes, hubby says that i spend too much time on the laptop.

well, with so many applications on facebook, blogging is a must every day, checking emails is a must every day, reading news is a must everyday, so i do spend quite a lot of time on the net. actually i've cut down logging into msn and yahoo chat.

Saturday, April 11, 2009

didn't bring children to the places as planned. instead this morning, need to go qingming.

so that was about half the day gone. then went down to the tour agency to pay the malacca money. so by the time we ate lunch and came back, i was dead tired and i was sleeping like a dead log!

then sil's family came in the evening, went out for dinner.

tomorrow, need to bring mil to church, she is getting baptised. and tomorrow will most probably plan to go down to test drive the mit lancer ex.

Friday, April 10, 2009

today went to eat roti prata at jalan kayu. It was so crowded. lucky we went there early. for us, as there wasn't much people yet, we could still order our food. but those that come later, i would say that the service was lousy. When people want to order food, they just said wait. one couple even walked off after waiting for 5-10 mins for someone to take their order.

then after that, we came back. then we went down to cycle and carriage again. this time, we asked the salesperson to do a rough calculation again. now we are still discussing.

Wednesday, April 08, 2009

today is a very hot day and today is a very tiring day.

maybe i took the cough mixture in the morning, hence was a little drowsy.

maybe i'm feeling the blues again, maybe morale has been low recently, that's why get tired easily.

whatever it is, i'm looking forward to the long weekend this week. at least i can spend quality time with my family.

am planning to go marina barrage or labrador park, then dinner at warren. maybe can bring them go swimming too.

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

just finished redeeming starhub rewards points, so tedious.

today has been a busy day...

max thought that we are not working tomorrow, he was so sad to hear that we are working. he is so cute.

Monday, April 06, 2009

today has been a groggy day. The cough mixture makes one groggy. dun like that feeling.

Max is so cute. He imitates people so funnily. he has this toy car which he can sit inside and push. so he pretends that he goes to work, fetches mil to church, go giant, go petrol station to pump petrol, even pump air in the tyres. then he washes his car.

nowadays, when he sees cars, sometimes he would say sports car. and he usually looks at the behind of the car to see if it's a sports car. i think he is looking at the exhaust pipe. if it's a big exhaust pipe, it's a sports car. i wonder where he get this idea.
I'm filling the ipod touch with lots of applications. Blogging using iPod touch. Feels good. Today brought max to giant after breakfast . In the afternoon brought them to brewerkz. After that brought them to liang court to shop and also borders at wheelock place. The children bought some books. At night went over to mum's place for dinner and kind of finalize malacca trip

Saturday, April 04, 2009

went to settle a lot of things in the morning. went to collect max passport. He's so happy to receive his passport.

then went to settle inome tax, then went to the bank.

in the afternoon, went to epicentre at wheelock place to check out the imac or macbook. after calculation, they didn't want to take our trade in, so had to give up the idea. not worth it.

went to big o for lunch. it's been a long time since we went there to eat. the cakes are so nice. mouth drooling. so full, even until dinner time, i'm still very full.

Friday, April 03, 2009

just came back from dinner at east coast. We went there in the early evening. After eating, the children had a good time playing with sand.

so tired today. the weather is so hot.

Thursday, April 02, 2009

yes, don't have to wait for june to go holiday.

planned a trip to go malacca this coming labour day. and we have a huge group going. all 9 of us.

well deserved holiday... counting down
i was stuck in the lift yesterday evening!

went into the lift, then this lady walked in. while the door was about to be fully close, she suddenly remembered something and she pressed door open as she wanted to go out. that is when the lift got stuck.

we tried so many things, the door could neither open nor close. and this is the new lift after lift upgrading, with those little windows which we can look out. so we tried pushing the door towards each other to close it tight.

great, the lift moved but only a little then it got stuck. then the alarm was so loud. so we called the hotline.

but it was quite embarrassing as it was evening time and many people were coming home at that time. so they see these 2 ladies stuck inside. but they were very helpful. they asked if we called, we said yes. actually we didn't say, the alarm was so loud, we couldn't hear them anyway. so it was a lot of actions. i had to cover my ears because the alarm was so loud!

come to think of it, i should have taken a picture or taken a video. anyway, that is so not our generation.

luckily, it was only for 15 mins that i was stuck.

later on during dinner, i find out that 3M were very spontaneous in their reactions. i sms dear dear to tell him that i'm stuck, so i would be late. so he came down to take a look. 3M also came out of the house, but didn't follow to the 1st storey. but they were worried.

later when the technician came, dear dear told them that the technician has arrived to rescue mummy, they were on the 10th storey, they stood at the lift lobby, waiting for the lift door to open (there is this other lift that was working) they clasped their hands as if praying like that, waiting anxiously for the lift door to open to see me. when they finally saw me, they ran to hug me.

i asked marcus and mabel why they were so worried. marcus said that he was afraid that i would die. because he was afraid that there was no air in the lift and mabel said that plus, i'm still coughing.

then i asked them what happened if i die like ah zhor. mabel's answer is very pragmatic, coffin, funeral, then burial. marcus' answer was more humane. he said that after the burial, of course, he would think of me every night.

so anyway, i gave them all three a big hug. it was not a big ordeal, but at least i know they cared for me.

Monday, March 30, 2009

sometimes i wonder if i'm too fierce to marcus. he seems to be unhappy. i dunno. i'll just do what i feel that it's right for him. i'm not always there to look after him. he needs to learn to be independent.
i am so angry with marcus. he lost 2 4GB game stick, and he doesn't have the slightest idea where he misplaced it.

Sunday, March 29, 2009

now i'm toying with the idea of buying a new car. today went to mitsubishi car show room, not yet change, but will do calculations first.
bought mabel her birthday present. yes, it's a very early birthday present, her birthday is in october.

bought her ipod touch. now i'm seriously considering getting a iphone.

i kind of like apple stuff. well, i won't say much otherwise sounds like free advertisement. should get one and you will know.

been toying with ipod touch and stuff for so long, couldn't bear to buy it for myself, but for mabel, there was no 2nd thoughts. i told her on saturday, and on sunday i brought her to go and buy. i guess most parents are like that.

Saturday, March 28, 2009

this morning, brought max to make his passport. then went down to pay the balance up of the club med trip. in the meantime, we also wanted to book a malacca trip for the whole family, 6 adults and 3 children.

my sis came along with us. at last, we decided on the travel agent and make our booking. just hope that there are hotel rooms. cos it's quite last minute.

then after all these had been settled, we went to brewerkz. then we sent our sis home, she has a concert to go tonight!

it was a grat time together.

Thursday, March 26, 2009

can you believe it? i have high chloestrol. (is that how you spelled it?)

so less eggs, full cream milk, fried food, less crabs!!! omg, how can u ask me to eat less crabs? less fatty meats, ok, that one, no issue.

more exercise, gosh. and i may have urinary tract infection, need to go for further checks if i'm worried. my white blood cells count is also high....

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

since the beginning of term 2, mabel has not been sleeping well at night. on sunday night, she couldn't get to sleep worrying about her Chinese e-learning. she was afraid that she did the wrong exercises. even though after reassuring, she still couldn't sleep, so she came over to my room to sleep.

on monday night, she could not sleep again. i thought maybe she was afraid to sleep in the room on the top deck of the bed, (at the back of my mind, i thought she saw some stuff) so again, i let her sleep in my room.

then last night, she was again crying in the room. the maid knocked on my door to tell me that she is crying for mummy. (darn, i was already asleep) she said she didn't want to go to school. I asked her the reason why and she told me 'spelling' after reassuring her, 'cannot find yellow file'. I'm really at the point of bursting already. i think i spent like 40 mins talking to her. or would i say lecturing her.

the final conclusion to the talk is, i told her, i would not condone coward act. she has to go to school the next day no matter what. that is my ultimatum.

so i really don't have enough sleep and is grumpy today. upon reflection, i would like to find out the real underlying reason of her not wanting to go to school. but she is not telling anything. maybe the reasons she cited is true and genuine, so she must learn to face up. she cannot run away. but what i worry is that the reasons are not so simple. i tried to ask if anyone bully her, etc, maybe i'm fierce in my tone, so she didn't want to tell me.

sigh, still in standby mode, not able to process anything

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

so tired to blog anything these 2 nights. totally drained out of energy. labour day, planning labour day, go malaysia with my family, mum, sister and aunties. it will be great for everyone to go.

max is very cute. he stands in front of the mirror and doing funny actions to himself.

Sunday, March 22, 2009

we had an eventful day today. in the morning after dropping my mil at church, we wanted to have dian xin for breakfast nearby. but we could not find any parking lot! so in the end, we went to giant tampines, had breakfast and went to shop around for a while.

then we went back to fetch mil. once we reach home, we get ready to go brewerkz. we pack some stuff so that the children have got something to do there. marcus still has to read a chinese storybook. brought the laptop as there is free access. as usual, marcus brought his psp. took some story books and drawing paper to occupy max.

when we reach there, marcus did his reading, mabel on the laptop, then max also read some books. after we had eaten the food, dear dear and me decided to play a game of pool. all 3 children joined us to watch and they wanted to try, so halfway through the game, it became their game.

they did not know how to place their left hand, so we took the rest and i think the children had great fun playing pool, including max. but he had to stand on a chair, he is too short!

after brewerkz, we came home for a rest, then in the evening, went to my mum's place.

we bought a bottle of red wine over so after dinner, the adults, including my two aunties all share the bottle of wine. we catch up with each other and we planned to go malacca during the labour day holiday. cool.
that day took some pictures of rainbow, wanted to put it up, but forgot.

Saturday, March 21, 2009

ever since the 3 children take multivitamins pills, i feel that their appetite has increased. i think this is great, especially for marcus. He is able to eat 1 adult's share now. Nothing makes me happier than to see my children eating heartily.

max sings jay chou's songs. or at least he hums to the tune of it.

my learning points after attending conference

Just want to pen down some things that i learnt after attending the conference. Well, you internalise better when you write it down rather than just think, reflect and these thoughts tend to disappear if you do not take the effort to pen it down.

1)The first keynote address was very apt. The title 'retoring the spirit of service' The speaker was good, she made us think of why we do what we are doing now. it questions my belief. As adults, we are often dictated by rewards/incentives and competition and building defences. We start to find excuses for the mistakes we made. 'The recession made me got retrenched, so i'm in a dire state, so i'm frustrated.'
Have we forgotten the spirit of giving? to give something and not expecting anything in return? because sometimes we forgot that the helper does in return get helped. you become kinder, happier and more positive.

Then as an educator, how do i teach my students about this amidst the teaching? have i forgotten to develop their character as well?

2) 2nd keynote address: the speaker is from the Phillipines. he gave his speech on Gawad Kalinga, a housing project that he started. He is very sincere. no slides, just 1 video and a lot of stories to share. a bold move I would consider. but never did i once was distracted (except for answering a sms) because his stories are real!

his housing project aims to help the citizens to learn good governance, developing character by refraining from corruption. (The project also teaches the citizens to be self-sufficient) Such simple yet strong words which i have took for granted in Singapore.

Through his project, he also aims to help restore the dignity of the poor by giving them dreams and aspirations to motivate them to work. Yet another thing that i've taken for granted. With most Singaporeans, we have basic housing needs and clean piped water, something that we have taken for granted. So what do people and the youths have as their dreams to motivate them? nothing. worse still, their motivation is the latest handphone, the latest IT gadget, the latest PSP games etc.

The video made me cry. The man in the video was so grateful that this project has given his family hope and aspirations.

3) the other keynote address, 'active participation - the key to learning'. the title says it all, meaningful engagement of students. this not only makes sense to teaching students but also to service learning. i'll just quote something which i've scribbled down during the address: 'being intrinsically motivated has to do with being wholly involved in the activity itself.'

Of course there are 4 concurrent sessions that i attended, but i thought that the time for the session was too short for me to really reflect. It's more of absorbing information and establishing contacts with the presenters.

4) the project exhibits: been to many exhibition booths to find out more about what other students, young people are doing for their service learning or experential learning. established contacts with a few of them. but 2 most thought provoking ones:
a) CIP trip to vietnam: i juz stood there to watch the video. maybe i have a soft spot for children. when the students visited the orphanage, it seems that this orphanage is for the very young children. The video shows many toddlers and babies in the orphanage. the students carried the toddlers and play with them. then i can feel my tears rolling down. so embarrassed. excused myself to the toilet.

thought provoking because how can these beautiful babies not have parents? (i do not want to dwell on the reasons) they are left to fend for themselves at such a young age.

b) student teachers CIP project at myanmar. These few young adults gave so much to the villagers and the school they visited. books, even the test tubes that they brought over. again, something that i've taken for granted, or rather our students have taken for granted. they do not have a science laboratory. The teachers-to-be showed the teachers there some simple science experiment to do with every day objects.

I was speaking to this young lady, you could sense from her sharing that these teachers in myanmar was so eager to learn. not only the teachers, the students were so eager to learn too. by day 3, they put in an effort to speak English to our Singaporean counterparts. i cannot help but to compare the myanmar students' eagerness to learn vs our singaporean students' eagerness to learn. with such good facilities in school, students sometimes take for granted and forget why they are learning and who they are studying for.

my concluding thoughts: Singapore has been prospering and our standard of living improving. With such prosperity, have we forgotten where we started? have we started to take even the simplest thing such as house for granted? have we forgotten our purpose or lose our motivation in life? how can i then teach all these to my students? i cannot simply take away their stuff and throw them back into caveman's era. there must be another way and as at now, i'm still searching.

while at ubin, we took the van taxi in. the uncle was a nice and humourous uncle. so had a talk with him. little did i realise that his son is studying in our school and joins npcc too!!! what a small world.

when we alighted at camp noordin, need to do the logistics. then this FI approached me. Habil, ex student. so he in serving NS now and was sent to ubin to be FI. What a small world again!

it is a nice feeling when u meet ex students. not that it reminds you that you are old, it's just that.. it's wonderful to see them grown up and more sensible.

so it was a good time catching up with him and asking him if he is still in contact with other friends. so it was good to receive updates on them.

STM sandra

you know how absent minded i am?

1) yesterday, had to shampoo my hair. but instead of using the shampoo, i used the body shower! and the best part is, i didn't realise it, until after i had put my conditioner, then i realise i didn't use the shampoo juz now.

2) this morning, brought students to ubin. so i drove to changi village, tore the coupon then went to meet the students. when i saw the water bottle they are holding, i realised i forgot to bring down the water bottle. so went back to the car to take the water bottle. then happily, lock the door and went back to meet the students.

3) on the way to ubin on the bumboat, i realise i left my hp in the car! how forgetful can i get?

i attended a conference these two days at NIE.

1) it was a long journey, even by car. so i tell myself, not to rush, drive normally and true enough, it was a pleasant drive, enjoying the songs and just observing how other people drive.

2) on the first morning, popped over to grandma's grave first. bought some flowers for her. before my journey, i was a little worried, worried about my emotions. it must be weird to visit a grave so early in the morning. i think i was the only one and first one there.

surprisingly, i was calm. even looking at grandma, i was calm. didn't bring a cloth with me so didn't manage to give the grave a good wipe.

3) the conference was a good one. i learnt many things from there and am eager to blog down my thoughts. but at this time of the day, i think i will do the conference a dis-service if i were to hurriedly blog down. i need time to think through and orgainse my thoughts. it doesn't help if max is around and mummy this mummy that. so i will do one proper one, when i'm alone

hmmm, tomorrow need to bring students to ubin. looking forward and not so looking forward. it's good to go back to nature but i wish i could use the time to do some of my work. It's already thursday tomorrow.

just now, brought 3M to parkway parade. hmmm, no joy shopping with 3 kids. first, i did some banking, then max saw the kiddy cab, he wanted to take the 'police car', ok, so rent the 'police car' for him. problem is now, we had to take the lift. so walked one big round to take the lift to the basement, walked one big round to buy the skateboard. then walked one big round to take the lift up to the shops again. marcus said that he was hungry, so we had eclair.

then bought some t-shirts for dear dear. mabel bought an OP pencil box. then next, went to giant to buy some groceries. while at op, marcus and max quarrel and max kept calling for me. suppose to buy only 1 thing at giant, ended up buying milk, cereals and chocolates. while waiting to pay for the groceries, asked marcus to go to the vcd shop to get his 3rd instalment of pokeman cd.

so we ended up buying a lot of things. now have to carry these things to the car. after returning the kiddy cab, luckily marcus and mabel helped to carry some stuff. then max wanted me to carry him, i told him i can't.

finally and luckily and slowly, managed to get to the car and drove safely home. It was really like an adventure bringing them out to the shopping centre.
just transfer some photos from hp to laptop.

saturday: went to friend's baby one month celebration. saw old friends there, catch up with them. other than that, nothing much. sunday: bought skateboard. marcus and mabel tried the skateboard. here are some pictures and videos.

This is contradicting. I look forward to the one week break, but yet, not so look forward, because, there is a lot of things to be done and most of the days are gone for various activities.

And after the 1 week holiday, it will be bullet train in term 2. i hope that i will be able to spend some quality time with children during this one week holiday. Have not really plan what we could do together.

don't know what to blog today. Just know that i'm exhausted today and i just want to vege out and play games to destress.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

what should i say today? today been a busy day and not really a nice mood day. I think my students can sense it.

It could have started from last night. When i went back at about 6pm, marcus still hadn't bathe! so first i screamed at him to go and bathe. then i ask him if he has homework. he said no. ok, then ask him if he has completed his e-learning tasks that his teacher wanted him to do. No, he hadn't. angry.

marcus quickly went up to bathe. i saw mabel, asked her if she has homework. she said yes, and she is doing the homework in front of the tv while watching the tv. and she is sitting so near the tv. angry.

i came home specially to bring them to sakae sushi for dinner and this not done, that not done.

so in the end, i got fed up, and decided not to bring them out for dinner.

i guess that was the starting spark for my today's mood.

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

didn't have a good sleep last nite. been waking up since 2.30am to check on max, make sure that he does not run a high fever again. The slightest thing will wake me up. and last nite, i had leg cramps twice. i had to massage my poor feet.

then at 4.30am, i finally could not get back to sleep, so i suggested to hubby that we go macdonald for breakfast. so at 5am, we went to mac. when i reached home at 5.45am, max already woke up and i think he couldn't find us in the room, so he cried. the maid carried him down to the sofa. when i came back, he was already at the sofa, sobbing. and he gave me that cold hard stare like 'why you didn't bring me out?' stare.

so i cuddled him. at first, he didn't allow me to go to work, he said that he wanted to follow. so after a slow talk, managed to soothe him. then got ready for work.

took my medicine also before i came, so u can imagine, i'm going to be drowsy the whole day.

Monday, March 09, 2009

last night, max had fever. it running quite high in the night.

before he sleep, gave him some fever medicine. during the night, he shivered, hugged him and slept. then at about 2 something, i just felt that his fever is very high. took his temperatue, 40.1, quickly sponge hima and gave him more fever medicine. so from 2 something to about 4, didn't sleep and was just hugging him, sponging him and making sure that his fever didn't go up. while he was shivering, his hand was so cold.

so in the morning, i really cannot wake up to go to school and max is still running a fever. so took child care leave today.

just now in the morning, brought him to see the doctor. he's so cute. he told the doctor, "my head is hot."

after the doc, we went for breakfast. he wanted to drink can drink, i told him, he can't today because he is sick. immediately, he touched his forehead and said, 'not hot already.' he is so funny.

now after medication, he's much better. now it's my turn to be drowsy. i also see a doc and got some cough mixture for my nagging cough. now the medicine is making me drowsy.

Saturday, March 07, 2009

today must be a fun day for the kids.

in the morning, brought them to merchant court for a swim. it was relaxing, and we all just enjoy spending time with one another. my sister in law and her family came along too.

after swimming, we went for lunch and then to brewerkz.

we spent some time at brewerkz and came home at about 4 something. after we came home, i just 'concuss' on the bed.

slept until 7 something, then we went for a good dinner with sis in law and family and everyone. marcus developed a fever after dinner, so brought him to see a doc. throat infection.

not sure if want to let him go to sch on monday.

again i had a weird dream last night. It's kind of like similar with previous night's dream, but in this dream, i remembered i specifically ensure a distance between us. i also remembered in the dream that his gf appeared, he immediately became meek and so nice to the gf, like totally forgot that he had flirted with me just seconds before.

i guess that's my perception of men. funny, it doesn't really change much, i guess i just never say it (though last time i did maintain a different blog, but i think it was removed already because i didn't migrate it to the new interface)

yeah, last time i thought that by blogging it out, it was better, in retrospect, it gave me more trouble and i still strongly believe in my belief, some things are better unsaid.

so to blog about my weird dreams and my reflections is kind of like a phobia. i'm carefull not to describe the dreams too explicitly, not that it's very RA-ted, just prefer it to be vague. but what i find hardest to blog is my reflection. as i'm typing the first 2 paragraphs just now, i realise that some of my beliefs didn't change.

so as i was saying, my perception of men didn't change much. i'm not generalising that all men are like that, but some, if not most men are like this. On one hand, they flirt with other girls, some even get these girls to bed etc, on the other hand, when they go home, they are nice to their wives. i remembered a friend once said, 'though i flirt around, the woman that i love which is my wife is in my heart. i still love my wife.' This friend ended up divorce. some men would want to bed every woman they meet. so why can't woman do the same?

but if women were to practice this, they will say that woman are promiscous. double standard? yes, but i guess that is how society works.

i know i'm no saint, i've committed my sins. i'm just reflecting. the world probably doesn't change a thing after i've blog. i'm not asking to change anything. so much rumbling after a dream.

i'm still in a state of disbelief that after going deep down my mind, my belief didn't change. and it's frightening, because belief don't change, our actions are guided by our belief. but to do it or not to do it comes the self-awareness part.

i don't know how to end this, because my thought just keep flowing. but i guess i'll end here, becoz there are lots of work to be done.

Thursday, March 05, 2009

just now, just had health screening. went for a comprehensive one. so i guess 2 weeks later, then the results can be known.

finally, it's thursday, it's been a busy week. lesson observation and marking common tests.
hmmm, thought that i want to blog about dreams. let me see.... actually a few days ago, i had a very weird dream. it happened after the news report of the female teacher being sent to jail for having sex with a minor.

there was a night when i dream of something. i can't remember clearly the dream. ok the dream goes something like this.

a female colleague was crying (for privacy sake, i will not even attempt to describe) so i asked her what happened. so she told me that this boy threatened her when she wanted to break off the illicit affair.

on one hand, i tried to comfort her, on the other hand, in my mind, i was like 'uh? this lady and this boy?' shudders.

ok, this is my first dream.

my weird 2nd dream was last night. ok, sorry dear dear, the dream goes like this

i met up with an old friend of mine, jc friend. went out, then i dunno why, but i sent him back to his home and we even took the lift together.

in the lift, because it was very crowded, it became very physically close. (minus the details) then we hug and then we kiss.

end of dream

i seldom remember my dreams when i wake up. i don't know why these 2 dreams are so clear in my mind. and last night's dream... it was actually very sweet. The feeling was very nice and sweet.

ok, after blogging, i shall not dwell on the dreams anymore, lest i stray. focus on God.

Tuesday, March 03, 2009

yeah, geography challenge is fun. it's fun when you have to beat your students' score.

max is so funny, he refuse to change into his pyjamas. he really enjoys wearing his overalls. anyway, he looks good in his overalls, look like a farmer.

i should go get marcus and mabel to go and sleep.

today has been a tiring day at work.

affairs of the heart are funny.

i'm rumbling, time to stop

Monday, March 02, 2009

today, decided to bring the kids to Ikea for dinner. they enjoyed the dinner and the play area there, especially max. marcus and mabel love the meatballs.

after dinner, we went to shop around. bought 2 chairs for the children's room as the old, bulky chairs are certainly a little too bulky with the new bed in the room. so we needed something simple and less bulky one.

we also saw the bedroom slippers which were quite cheap, so all 5 of us, each bought a pair. yes, Max also wanted a pair even though his leg is so small. he is so tickled wearing the bedroom slippers and walking around.

i realise marcus' appetite has improved a lot. (touch wood first)he is able to finish a plate of rice. i mean last time, he used to share with mabel, but now he can finish a plate all by himself. so now, i will share with mabel.
on sunday, went to church because it's grandma's 1 anniversary. time passes so fast. i'll definitely blog about it with the funeral photos. i find that it's a nice closure. sometimes, i wonder how grandma is feeling, lying six feet below.
let me see what we have done over the weekend

on Saturday morning, went for breakfast, then LTA, then inland revenue house, then went to buy wheelchair. then came back and rested for a while before go to collect a double decker bed for the children.

so the whole saturday has been a busy one.

wheelchair - i can't believe the handle for the wheelchair broke, i do not know if it's my mil that is too heavy or the misuse of the handle. They like to use the handle to push the wheelchair up a step, also like to hang many things on the wheelchair.

while i was there, someone recommended me to drink this goji juice. it's the orange thingy that we like to put in our soup, it's suppose to be good for our eyes. but this is the concentrated juice. one bottle is about $78. eh, the person gave me free to try.

so these few days, i've been drinking this goji juice. well, initially, your body will be adjusting, so i may feel tired for the first few days. But after your body has adjusted to it, it should be able to energise you. well, the pamphlet has got 34 reasons why you should drink goji, i'm not going to all elaborate here. i'll first drink and see what is the effect on me, then i'll blog about my experience.

Friday, February 27, 2009

finally, booked for club med phuket. went to natas fair. as i expected, i think all the airline tickets were block book by travel agents. anyway, scout around, and managed to find this travel agent who is friendly and we were able to work out some things. so booked the club med with her.

so 3M, mark in your calendar, 14 june to 18 june. now i can heave a sigh of relief.

next, tomorrow we are going to get the double decker bed for the children. i bet they are excited.

Thursday, February 26, 2009

random thoughts for the night

1) check out the newspaper on natas fair, wrote down the booth number to visit. now worried, the cost too high for the whole family to go club med, scared no money to pay, wonder if there is instalment plan.

2) really wish there is flight available, otherwise we may have to call off the holiday plans.

3) the children are playing nintendo wii downstairs. they sound so happy

4) very tired tonight. stayed too late in school

5) brought the kids to eat dinner at coffeeshop, ordered pizza. not too bad. they gobbled down almost everything. the italian guy gave the children another 3 slices FOC.

6) the 9pm show is crap.

7)i need to massage my feet. the muscle feels so tense

8)max was playing and shouting, suddenly, 'sh sh' then he ran to the toilet. ha, he's so funny.
blogging for the sake of writing something.

anyway, it's a thursday, and i'm looking forward to the NATAS fair tomorrow. I sincerely hope that i'm able to make a booking for club med with transportation included.

this is making me worried.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

1) i'm on the net since 7pm and it's almost 10pm now. i've been checking on club med, playing guess the sketch and playing geo challenge and pet society. neck stiff.

2) max is sitting beside me and doing silly things like twirling the psp wire and peeping into what i was doing and repeating whatever i say.

3) max just kissed me when i smiled at him.

4) another weight loss advertisement on the tv. so boring.

5) max has been digging his nose and passing me his nose shit. and he doesn't stop calling me until i take the nose shit from him. he makes me want to dig my nose too.
so it has been decided. We decided to bring the kids to club med phuket during the june holidays. reason, it's cheaper than bali.

Monday, February 23, 2009

suppose to go to sleep, but since on the internet, might as well try to beat my score in geo challenge. yeah, finally broke the 7000+, now it's 10000+.

when i saw my score, i was like, i clenched my fist and 'yes'. that satisfaction.
ok, attending a workshop at ishop at cineleisure is cool.

wish i can 'koup' one macbook home. haha, just joking.

they should organise more of such workshops where it's conducted off site. it's really a refreshing change.
how silly of me. meant to do some work on sunday night, but then i copied the wrong folder onto my thumbdrive. so nothing was done.

so now, on a monday morning, have to rush like anything. good luck to me

Sunday, February 22, 2009

went to parkway parade (again) today after dropping mil at church. then went to harvey norman because remember the advertisement that today is the last day. but things were quite messy inside though some of the things look attractive to buy. and there was not enough staff to ask for assistance.

in the end, we walked out of harvey norman and walked over to best denkei. it was there and plus the staff's assistance, we bought a pioneer home theatre set for our room, about $379. i guess it's good buy. with hdmi, vcd/dvd, usb, built in fm.
let me see, on saturday, after meet the parent session, went to have lunch at brewerkz. After happy hour, we came back for a nap.

Max was sleeping so he didn't follow us to brewerkz. when he woke up and couldn't find us, he cried.

anyway, the day went on as usual with sister in law and family coming over to our house for dinner in the evening. went out for dinner and the children played nintendo wii after dinner.

Friday, February 20, 2009

just have staff games day... played table tennis and badminton. It was fun though i'm all now sweaty and smelly. let me finish me the last few scripts before going back. tomorrow still have to come back.

so not going to do anything tonight.

Thursday, February 19, 2009

i've finally finish my cantonese show.

It was fun watching it together. last night at 11pm, we finally finish the show. would we start on a new show? well, not likely. need a break.

it was really a nice show, i'm sorry, little nyonya must step aside. it's really a lot about kinship. 家好月圆

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

i have something to confess.

dear dear said thanks to me for taking care of his mother.

my sis in law and her husband also said thanks to me for taking care of mil.

actually i felt that i didn't do that much to be thanked. but nonetheless, accepted and you're welcome.
so monday came and now it's tuesday. day in day out, work work work.

for the past two weeks, been feeling down about work, i'm not sure of my future direction. maybe i'll do this, maybe i'll do that, or even maybe i'll do that. sorry, i dun think i want to explicitly say it here. but as i'm typing, i think i know what are the this and thats.

so a little unsure but surely and slowly, it would become clear. just continue praying.

Max is so funny. he still keeps on singing 'he xin nian, zhu xin nian' even though chinese new year is over. then he goes, 'dong dong chiang, dong dong chiang' just like the lion dance. haha, his actions tickles me.

he is naughty too. he has been slowly invading marcus' toys. so many things that were once marcus' now became his. sometimes even marcus' psp. so that sunday, i bought marcus his 2nd instalment of pokeman vcd.

mabel has been nice to max too, giving in and being a great helper in the family.

sometimes really must be very conscious to be fair to all three of them especially the two eldest one.
i am hooked on cantonese drama serial.

how did it begin? on saturday, when i was at my sister in law's house, my mil brought one disc over to continue watching. It was episode 16. Since there wasn''t much to do, i watched it as well. then i knew i was hooked. it wasn't too difficult to realise who was who, then i was hooked.

that night after we went home, i managed to watch 2 more discs. btw, one disc is 2 hours, 3 episodes long. so that night, i slept at 3am.

on sunday, i started to watch at 8pm. another 2 discs. last night, being a weekday night, i tell myself, only 1 disc... so i started at about 8.30pm and by 1030pm, with the kids in the room, i stopped after one disc.

i never knew i would be hooked in the first place. i always snigger at people who are hooked to korean drama serial or cantonese drama serial. now i know that feeling. and i'm astonished. If the scriptwriter can stop the episode at the appropriate time to make you want to watch the next, this person has done a great job.

you know that feeling, you were engrossed in the show, then suddenly the screen freeze and the words came out, then you go like, gosh and you hit both palms together.

and the show makes you cry! that's what makes watching so exciting
let me see, so many days never update....

sorry, jessica, it totally slipped out of my mind that 14 feb is over. i was trying to recall in class what i did on that day....

in the morning, brought my maid to POSB as she wanted to remit some money home. queued, the form is tedious to hand in, she was not friendly in helping me and it's $30! then went home first, then brought her to Singpost and finally settled. But being a saturday, it was such a long queue.

After that, went back to school for a while. haven't been in school for the past few days due to training, never plan anything for monday's lesson, so felt uneasy. came back to sch, the staff room was so stuffy, so packed a few things to bring home to do.

went to eastpoint for lunch. then when i reached home, it was back to work. then my sis came over to play with 3M. in the evening time, it was to sister in law's house for dinner.

i hope there will be another sales...

Thursday, February 12, 2009

nothing much to post lately because has been attending a 3 full day workshop from wed to fri. 9am-5pm.

now i can understand how our student felt, sitting down in the classroom for so many hours, listening to the teacher teach. it's boring! yes, it is.

so now, knowing this, how can i then improve and help them break out from this?

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

yesterday, succumb to sickness and max's crying and took mc. Actually it was more of max.

He woke up and he started crying. he said that he doesn't want me to go to work, if not he wants to follow me to work. then he just kept on crying without letting me go.

so in the morning, i had a great time with max, playing rayman rabbit with him and then we went for breakfast and he accompanied me to see a doctor.

After we came home, we played psp. but by then, about 12 plus, he was very tired. so he slept in my arms. i quickly took my medicine and soon, i was drowsy and fell asleep too.

I think max woke up at 3 plus and he went downstairs. but i was so knocked out from the effects of the medicine that i just continued sleeping.

this morning, as i prepare myself to go to work, max woke up and he open the toilet door while i was brushing my teeth. his radar system is just so sensitive. I had a hard time trying to discourage him from following me to work.

Then i realised that he doesn't want to go back to sleep, so i let him go downstairs and watch cartoon network. He also want to play the psp. only then, he allowed me to go to work.

so now i'm rushing to finish some of the things in school so that i can quickly go back and play with the children.

thank you for the present

thank you dear dear for the diamond. It was a pleasant surprise. didn't expect you to buy a gift for me. thanks and love you lots, dear.

Wakin concert

Feb 7 is finally the day we go and watch wakin's concert. It has been a long time since we last saw a concert.

we went out while max was taking his afternoon nap. that was the only way we could get out without him tagging along. since it was still early, we went to brewerkz at indoor stadium to have something to drink and later towards the evening, our dinner.

when it was time, we went in. i think it was at least 95% full. so at 8pm, the concert started. It was 4 hours of concert. that feeling of being at the concert, the sound system was great. It was really pleasant and soothing to the ears. Not to mention, good singing from wakin. He also sang some old songs, it was really down memory lane for us.

I love his jokes and his interaction with the fans. the costume is nothing spectacular, but it was his genuine and sincere attitude that makes the concert worthwhile.

Valentine's day presents

today, we went to parkway. After having a sumptuous meal, we went shopping. the kids went into a shop. they 'fleece' me of a bakugan, barbie drawing stencil and hotwheel car.

so this is my valentine's day presents to them.

Friday, February 06, 2009

today while having dinner at a coffeeshop, i overheard a father saying this to his child

'we are now in the public, don't show me that stupid face.'
'i say come here. u better come here and sit down.' (in a fierce tone)

hmm, from my point of view, it sounds very harsh. i personally don't like the way he scold. i sympathise with the kid.

Happy 16th anniversary, dear dear

it's 6th Feb today. 16 years ago, u held my hands. that was how i kena duped....NOT!

although after 16 years, that passion we had then is sort of like gone, i guess after 16 long years, the relationship has 'upgrade' to a different type of relationship.

somewhat, the passion that we had when we were young, heck-care, no worries, happy go lucky, cheonging every nite with friends. yes, THAT passion is gone.

the passion that we have now, commitment, braving storms together, our little outings on friday nites, sweet kind of passion, sharing quiet moments of togetherness and tenderness, assuring hugs, sharing wonderful moments with the children and as a family.

It's definitely different. happy anniversary, dear dear.

Thursday, February 05, 2009

yesterday, worked until i forgot to go to the bank to bank in the children's hongbao money. so today, i rushed to the bank before it closes.

then later rush back because i had to meet my mum at the maid agency. we settle our dinner outside.

ok, my thoughts are random. you know this 30 thingy thing about yourself that is passing around. if someone tags you, then you have to write about 30 random things about yourself. was reading a few, it makes me understand the person better.

i wonder if i were to write, will i be able to fill up 30 things about myself? how long would it take for me to fill up 30 things about myself? how well do i know myself?

Thought of the day: are there different forms of hugs? which type of hug do you desire most? whose hug do you desire most?

i enjoy my form class this year. They are a great bunch of people. a bit crazy at times, but good bunch of people.

I hope that they will be able to persevere all the way to the O levels. We will do this together. from high school muscial, 'we're in this together.'

i love 5n1!

it's almost 6.30pm, still working. sianzzzzzzzzz
yesterday, i broke down.

i was so frustrated inside, for failing to keep up with my marking, for failing to be there for marcus and mabel when they did their homework, for having to do so much at work. i broke down.

i just don't feel like talking. after dinner, i went to the room, close the door and wept. i'm not sure if it's tears of frustration, tears of sadness or what. It just flows.

after that, i knelt down and i prayed to God. i told God that i'm so tired, i'm so frustrated, i feel so angry with myself. I told God i was too arrogant, i was so full of myself and i forgot to look to Him, i'm carrying too much burden.

after praying to God, i feel much better. things start to clear up.
let me have a quick update. On friday, was working very hard in school. was so fed up. then later that night, played mj to relax. but gosh, we started at 9 and played until 5am. but it was great fun, after having not playing it for a long time.

on saturday, my students came to my house for class gathering. 20 over of them. the house is so crowded. but it was fun. i ordered pizza and kfc.

later that evening, we went to a friend's house. it was a good time catching up with old friends.

then on sunday, it's homework day for marcus and mabel, then we brought the children out to brewerkz. in the evening, it's dinner time with mum, sis and aunties.
